fern bowl (top)790 viewsLooking down on the fern bowl you can see the repeated swirls from the bowl down through the column. I like the feeling of movement.

sea shell788 viewsI found a broken shell on the beach which showed the beautiful soft curves of the inside we don't usually see. This was the basis of this idea.

Fate783 viewsTwisting form - similiar to Mobius with more twists and more upright stance. When I was carving this life was going through a bit of a bad patch in my life and it made me think how life twists from going through a good phase, and then a bad, and then good... etc. I suppose we have to have the bad, to appreciate the good?
810mm tall

fern bowl778 viewsA few months ago I was asked to make a birdbath. I was given dimensions for the bowl, but after I started rounding out the outside I was emailed to say they had given me the wrong dimensions. For a long time the round top sat un-formed and alone, then one day I thought of this... based on fern leaves and fronds.
Stands 925mm high. Bowl 400mm across

State of mind768 viewsOur State of mind is a fragile and beautiful thing which can be destroyed by our own failings - slowly disintegrating making something that has the suggestion of what it once was - but which is now lost.

Lizard Sun Dial763 viewsI usually make individual lizards basking on a rock but in this piece I decided that it would be fun having lizards scampering up a column.

A Taste of Elegance759 viewsThis is one of the most time consuming pieces I have ever carved! It took months - to carve out the bowl of the glass, drill thousands of holes to make the laceyness, shape the leaves, and the sanding was a nightmare.
But this piece while formal, is super elegant. I uplight it at night to show the shadows and form. Its one of my current favourites.
